Hello, I'm Veer Jain.

Hi! I am graduating in Fall 2026 from Purdue University and searching for Summer 2026 internships. I am incredibly eager to apply my knowledge and gain experience in software engineering.

About Me

I am a Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence double major at Purdue University with a strong passion for software engineering and applied AI.

Most recently, I worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Lockheed Martin, where I co‑developed a defense‑grade, AI driven missile prototype—delivering mission‑critical software on RTOS Linux, building a real‑time computer vision pipeline with Apache Spark and YOLO, designing and implementing an FPGA‑based sensor interface, integrating Kafka‑driven data streams, and streamlining ML model training through hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulations.

Previously, during my time at Textron Systems, I contributed to mission-critical simulators for the U.S. Navy and aircraft programs, and created tooling that streamlined data extraction processes for engineers. My experience at John Deere involved developing a machine learning-based parts demand forecasting tool, aimed at enhancing supply chain operations. I've also worked with Morningview Technologies, where I automated flight search processes and built scalable web infrastructure, and independently developed PaySplit, a full-stack app that simplifies shared expenses for college students.

Outside of internships and projects, I’m especially interested in the potential of AI and Machine Learning, particularly in areas like Large Language Models (LLMs) and Computer Vision. I’m always eager to tackle meaningful challenges and bring both technical depth and collaborative energy to the teams I join.

Current Experience

Software Engineer Intern, Lockheed Martin

Summer 2025

  • Co-developed a large-scale defense-grade prototype of an AI-driven missile in under 8 weeks, delivering a mission critical CAN operating software on RTOS Linux.
  • Built a computer vision pipeline, integrating Apache Spark (for real-time data processing) with Ultralytics YOLO/OpenCV (for speed and accuracy), achieving 92% detection accuracy in live testing.
  • Designed and implemented an FPGA driver for IMU and Proximity IOs, serializing sensor data over an SFP+ link into a Kafka pipeline—improving ethernet telemetry integrity by 25 % in live flight tests.
  • Integrated a full-stack app (C#/.NET & QT) into a hardware-in-the-loop simulation, controlling simulated missile sensors and automating log collection—reducing trial time and anomaly handling time by 50%.
  • Supported end-to-end ML lifecycle on Azure with guidance from senior engineers—training and validating on real-world flight datasets, and automating testing to reduce testing duration from 4 days to 3 hours, utilizing Gitlab CI/CD pipelines.

Software Engineer Intern, Textron Systems

Summer 2024

  • Designed software architecture for a hovercraft training simulator for the U.S. Navy. Utilized Docker and Kubernetes for containerization/orchestration; collaborated with engineering teams and project lead.
  • Developed adaptive threat detection algorithms using machine learning, advancing system capabilities. Resolved critical bugs in an Electronic Warfare Simulator and manipulated data using mySQL workbench.
  • Addressed and resolved multiple software bugs within a U.S. aircraft simulator (C-17), strengthening system stability and performance. Utilized static code analysis and automated testing frameworks.
  • Single-handedly designed and developed an AI-powered Python tool with Natural Language Processing to automate data extraction from PDFs to Excel, saving 100+ hours monthly and transforming it into a crucial company asset.

ML Research Engineer Intern, John Deere

Fall 2023 – Spring 2024

  • Implemented a Parts Demand Forecasting Tool leveraging Python, Pytorch, and machine learning models to predict demand for part-location combinations, resulting in a 15% reduction in excess inventory.
  • Researched supply chain optimization, predictive analysis, time series forecasting methods, and data cleansing.

Software Engineer Intern, Morningview Technologies

Fall 2021 – Fall 2023

  • Automated cost-effective flight searches for a Fortune 100 company across airlines and nearby airports using Python and Selenium, reducing manual search time by 40%.
  • Engineered and maintained a web-based timesheet management system using Java Eclipse, SQL, Linux, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, increasing data entry efficiency by 25%.
  • Built RESTful APIs for creating, submitting, editing, and deleting timesheets, leveraging AWS EC2 and Docker.
